NPAs harassed a Military Detachment
Infantry Battalion, 2ID, said harassment is a desperate act of the NPAs in order to portray a scenario that they still pose as a strong threat to the government, and for them to elicit financial support from the business owners in Laiya through a revolutionary tax.

Infantry Division, said act manifests the insincerity of the NPAs to attain lasting peace and sustainable development.
“The CAAs are there to help and provide community service. However, these rebels are against peace and development,” said MGen Gan.
“But said harassment will not hamper our earnest desire to attain our mission of serving the people and securing the land,” he added.
The wounded CAAs were already brought to the hospital for medication, while the troops on the ground are still conducting
A Military Detachment based in Laiya Aplaya, San Juan, Batangas was harassed by an undetermined numbers of New People’s Army (NPAs) 10:45 PM, August 18, 2016.
Three (3) members of CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) were wounded on the said harassment that lasted for about five (5) minutes.
CAA Sherlack Contreras had a gunshot wound at his left shoulder while CAA Honorio Rosales and CAA Rodelito Contreras sustained minor wounds on their left and right legs respectively.
