Jungle Fighters recover Firearms in Quezon

CAMP CAPINPIN, Tanay Rizal -Elements of 16th Infantry Battalion under the Philippine Army’s 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division recovered four (4) High Powered Firearms Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11:30 in the morning. Lt Col Andres F Ferrer, 16IB Commander, said his troops were on its way to conduct peace and security patrol at Sitio Minanga, Barangay Lumutan, Genaral Nakar, Quezon when a concerned citizen gave information regarding the location of high powered firearms kept by unknown NPAs. The troops immediately proceeded to the area to confirm the information. 16IB troops recovered two (2) M16 rifles, one (1) M14 rifle and one (1) Shotgun. The newly installed Commander of 2ID, BGen Romeo G Gan, congratulated the troops for the successful recovery of high powered firearms. “We would like to thank the people of Sitio Minanga, Barangay Lumutan, General Nakar, Quezon for their continuing support in giving information and I assure the people of Southern Tagalog that we will continue in clearing the interior barangays from the influence of the NPA so that Local Government Units can implement their programs and be able to provide basic services for the people,” BGen Gan said.
