Government troops traded fires against drug personalities

Combined elements from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) traded fires to drug personalities in Brgy. Malisbong, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro on August 2, 2016, 3:00 in the morning. While approaching (around 30 meters) in the area to serve the Warrant of Arrest to Mr. Tokan Satol and Mr. Papang Satol, the government troops were fired upon by more or less ten (10) lawless elements. The troops quickly retaliated and exchanged fires. At around 5:00 in the morning, another firefight was ensued as the troops get closer to the house of the suspects. According to LTC Rodolfo R Gesim, Battalion Commander, 4IB, 2ID, it was already 1:00 in the afternoon when the troops fully dominated the whole compound. The firefight resulted to the wounding of Mr Tamano Satol (at the left portion of his stomach and left foot) and the apprehension of four (4) others namely: Jayson Mapa, Ricky Tapaganao, Cyril Galido, and Joan Terez. Likewise, the troops recovered one (1)  hand grenade, three (3) improvised shotgun rifles with 35 live ammunitions, one (1) Caliber 22 Rifle with 100 rounds ammunitions, three (3) Caliber 38 Revolvers, one (1) Caliber 22 Pistol, and drug paraphernalia. The suspects and the recovered evidences were already turned-over to the MPS Sablayan for appropriate legal actions while the troops are still conducting pursuit operations. MGen Romeo G Gan AFP, Commander, 2ID commended the troops of 4IB and MPS Sablayan for a job well done. Likewise, he encouraged everyone not to get involved with illegal drugs as the 2ID is sincere in supporting the government’s advocacy of eradicating drugs.
