Army and PNP rekindle hope in the remote sitios of Quezon Province

At least 21 less-privileged families rekindled hope with the special civic activity extended by Bravo Company, 74th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army and members of PNP Calauag at Brgy Ipil and Pinagsakayan, Calauag, Quezon. The activity, dubbed as “Kalinga sa Sityo: Isang Programang Pangkapayapaan sa Kanayunan,” is a special project of 74th IB and Southern Luzon Command, AFP which aims to bridge peace and development in a community that is less-privileged, inaccessible and conflict-affected, and allowing convergence of support from multi-stakeholders. This is a trailblazer project with the intent of attaining a conflict-manageable Quezon Province by 2015. “This is a special civic activity because we have to go to the remote sitios that are traditional communist lair, have dialogues with the local villagers and engage them in a participative-issue analysis. From then, together with the barangay chief executives, we will select the poorest and most vulnerable families to become our target beneficiaries” said LTC CONSOLITO P YECLA, Battalion Commander of 74IB. Said activity also included series of lectures and film showing about human rights, gun for peace program of the AFP and peace-related advocacies. “Sa buong buhay ko, ngayon lang po ako nakatanggap ng ganitong suporta at pagpapahalaga mula sa sundalo at pulis” said Mrs. Virgenia Sarzuela as she wiped her tears. The realization of the project is through the combined efforts of various business, religious and LGU sectors and 74IB.   2ID Jungle Fighter ARMY and PNP 2
