2ID troops encounter NPAs; 1 rebel dies
IB, the said successful operation is primarily due to the information given by a civilian that NPA rebels were there and extorting in their area. Likewise, he encouraged civilians to continuously report said illegal activities brought by NPA rebels and other lawless elements.
Presently, the 2ID conducted pursuit operations on the said areas in order to monitor and track down other NPA rebels.
Meanwhile, MGEN ROMEO G GAN AFP, Commander, 2ID, is once again asking rebels who are still up in the mountains to surrender to the folds of law for them not to suffer the same fate of their dead comrade.
Troops from 74th Infantry (Unbeatable) Battalion, 2ID encountered more or less fifteen (15) members of the New People’s Army (NPA) yesterday afternoon, May 10, 2015 at Sitio Talangtang, Brgy San Vicente Kanluran, Catanauan, Quezon.
Right after the said encounter which started at 2:40 pm, one (1) NPA rebel believed to be a member of SPN Unknown, GU2, SQ-BP, STRPC died instantaneously.
Also, it resulted to the recovery of one (1) M16 Rifle with magazines and ammunitions, one (1) 9MM Caliber Pistol with magazine and ammunitions, two (2) M203 bullets, two (2) Caliber .45 magazines, five (5) cellular phones, one (1) roll of electrical wire, nine (9) jungle bolos, two (2) backpacks, claymore mines, training materials, and other personal belongings.
